You expect me to apologise
For being the way I am
Being british, white, conventional
But worst of all, a man
I’m sorry that I’m average height
And I’m not over weight
I’m sorry for being English
I’m afraid to say I’m straight
I never shout about my rights
Of which there’s very few
And yet I’m told to change my ways
To compensate for you
I’m a victim of correctness
By political powers that be
How I became the villain
Is a mystery to me
I’m guilty of being normal
That I have no special needs
No sensitive requirements
No oddly strange beliefs
I’m sorry this offends you
And there’s much more on my list
What do you want me to say?
‘I’m sorry I exist?’
