The gambler

If life is truly a game, what happens to the winners
Are we not all equal in the eyes of the redeemer
We may strive to climb our social ladders
But will inevitably encounter a snake

You must play your hand the best you can
With the cards that you’ve been dealt
And although some will have more luck at the table
At some point everyone has to fold

And when you’ve rolled your last dice
And the roulette wheel finally stops turning
You must leave your chips with the cashier
And exit this casino empty handed

So when you face the final judgement
It doesn’t matter if you won or if you lost
It was only ever how you played the game
That you may discover to your cost
