Love lost

In fields of dreams I cannot yet find sleep
While ever winds of hope refuse to blow
I touch the empty space where once she lay
And then it dawns, with the unwanted day.

I curse the morning sun which lights the room
The impression in her pillow still remains
A dress still hangs upon the wardrobe door
While hopes and dreams lay shattered on the floor

The borrowed time which quickly passed us by
Was all too soon repaid with interest due
It could not know we still had love to share
It didn’t know or simply didn’t care

I watch the clock and doubt how time can heal
A wound that runs so deep and is so raw
So I pray for sleep to briefly end my pain
And winds of hope to blow away the rain
